Activity Testimonials

I participate regularly in various activities at PSC and everyone of them means a lot to me.
1) Mondays , Wednesdays and Fridays -General Exercise
This program is the perfect way to start our day. It is a workout for the whole body with weighs and bands. I enjoy doing the morning exercise with music, followed by strength training, and the last part focuses on stretching. I feel very accomplished after this exercise program.
2) Tuesdays and Thursdays - Line dance
This is my favorite program and the main reason for me to join PSC. I enjoy the songs and learning line dance is the best way to keep our mind sharp and our body moving.
3) Wednesdays - All That Jazz
This is another dance program with a little faster movement which makes us feel like Broadway stars. The one-hour class is a perfect workout not just physically but mentally as well. For me, I feel more accomplished and enjoy a lot more than going to the gym.
4) Mondays and Thursdays - Yoga
I enjoy this class as this helps me to relax, learn how to breathe, stretch and strengthen my core muscles. It is a good balance after doing all the dances and exercise during the week.
Thank you PSC for all these great programs and the wonderful volunteers for making them a huge success. Agnes C. 7-28-2025

It is an opportunity to meet others, to be active, to enjoy trips to many various places without the hassle of driving, to play bunco with others, to get and to get puzzles. Leland W. 7-28-2025

I come to PSC to be with likeminded seniors needing a place to socialize. I play bridge to keep my mind active. I would like it if more seniors would join our bridge groups. My mother had dementia. I am doing everything I can to hopefully avoid it myself. Parker Senior Center gives me a place to do those things that keep the mind and body active.
Prior to joining the Center I sat at home watching tv by myself. I have heard comments from my fellow members about wanting to find trips and such for single seniors, including those of us that have lost our spouses, or are just not married. Maybe there could be some kind of physical or electronic bulletin board to leave messages like wanting a friend to go fishing with, or on a cruise for single seniors, etc. things that are outside of the local trips offered on the PSC bus. At least with this you get messages from local friends, not some unknown, from who knows where. Just a thought. Larry E. 7-28-2025

The main activities I do are Line Dancing and exercise class. I have been doing line dancing for years and I don't know what I would do without it. It is very good exercise, good for your mind and I have many, many friends because of line dancing and the exercise class. Jan has been an excellent teacher, and I don't know what we would do without her. Thank God she continues to volunteer for us. Thank You, Sandy B. 7-28-2025

I love chair yoga and wish you did it at least twice a week! Kristine Chapman 7-28-2025
I still come to bingo and love that. I am 95 so have given up bridge, working desk and lunches. It is so wonderful to have such a wide variety of activities. In the past I line danced and went to Blackhawk on the bus. I would still be participating more if I were younger and more energetic! The Center was A lifesaver when I moved here 13 years ago. I have made amazing friendships. Keep up the good work and thanks to all the faithful volunteers!! Keep those doors open!!! Jackie L. (member for 13 years) 7-28-2025

Hi there PSC. Bettie and I like several things about the PSC. First, we both love to line dance. Good exercise for mind and body. Jan does a wonderful job for all of us. Secondly, we love many trips that are planned by your trip people. I am recovering from summer surgeries (2), and so trips will come later. We do love them though, and once I am better, we will participate. Thirdly, we both use and love browsing in the library. Library Liz does a tremendous job, and we are frequent users of the library. We are volunteering for something in October that Donna F. is in charge of, just don’t remember what! Our lives are better because of PSC. Keep on keeping on. Kirby and Bettie F. 7-28-2025

I am well established in my neighborhood after many years of living here. So I am very involved in my church, Smoky Hill United Methodist and its missions and activities. I belong to 2 bunco groups, Mahjong, and book clubs. What I especially like about the Parker Senior Center is, it is close and the trips it offers are so interesting and varied. I appreciate the transportation, the events and the socialization. Fran K. 7-28-2025

Hello! I joined PSC as soon as we moved from Lakewood to Parker a little over 3 years ago. I have been exercising with the MWF group at 8:30 and have really enjoyed that time together. It’s a really great all-around fitness class and the best part is the fun we have together.
We had a tap dance teacher for a while at PSC and that launched a whole new hobby for me. When our PSC teacher moved away to another state, I sought out other local dance studios to continue my education in tap dancing. I would never have started this new venture without my introductory class at PSC. I hope that one day, PSC find another tap instructor to join us at the Center.
Our new member, Al Salkeld brought to us the wonderful world of Jazz Dancing! He is a superb teacher and we are so lucky to have his enthusiasm and extreme talent at our center. I am addicted to his Jazz Dance class.
Yoga, taught by Joann Barton is a wonderful release of tension and stress. She is amazing.
There are too many things to mention in this testimonial; the great library, craft, classes, and card playing.
Suffice it to say, I love the Parker Senior Center. Sincerely, Karen P. 7-28-2025

Why I joined PSC:
I found retirement a bit boring. I basically have no family here (one brother and wife in Virginia). The people at work always became my family and friends and now they’re gone except for one person and her husband.
I was looking for friendship and interaction to fill my lonely heart. So, I looked into a couple of different organizations in Parker and could not afford them. There was no facility, only club outings. And club activities were expensive for my limited income.
I finally came across the PSC and was intrigued. I joined but did not do much in the first year. I renewed my membership and have since been slowly participating in many activities that require only your presence and smile.
The Center has warm, friendly people and many activities. I am not an early riser, so afternoon activities are more my forte. I also joined a committee which keeps me very busy at times.
I’m happy I renewed and would encourage others to do the same. It will take you out of your “shell” and fill your life with people and activities.
Suggestions for activities:
I would love to see dances a couple of times a year. Bring a stuffed animal for your partner if you have no spouse! Or maybe we could dress up a couple of brooms…
Sales fundraisers. As a group of talented members, we could sew, make or construct items to sell to make money. King Soopers Lincoln/Jordan usually allows booths to be set up for non-profit organizations. Scrap material can make foldable shopping bags. Other easy-to-construct useful items (potholders, toaster covers, etc. A PSC “pinup” calendar with humor—a local printer might like the business exposure and donate the cost of printing. Wishing you a great day, Monica C. 7-28-2025

I joined the Parker Senior Center for the wonderful day trips. I no longer wish to drive in the mountains, so the only way I can go is the trips offered by the Senior Center. The trips to Vail and Estes Park were phenomenal!!! Denise F. 7-28-2025

I primarily participate in the trips that the Senior Center provides and the exercise class on M, W, and F. I am very impressed with the exercise program because whoever set it up initially did some research so that it includes all the exercises that are recommended for seniors. The trips were fun and well planned. They have provided me with new friendships and experiences that, if I had to drive, I would not do. Who doesn’t appreciate going to the Buell Theater and being dropped off right at the plaza and being picked up at the same place!! There are many other events that I attend such as teas, fashion shows, and fundraisers. The Parker Senior Center has been a great social outlet. Midge A. 7-28-2025

Thanks for asking! I have been a member for 2 years or so and have played Mahjong regularly. Love it and the ladies who share my interest in the game. I’ve also done yoga, both chair and mat. While I love yoga itself the Monday class in the lower level is claustrophobic for me and I have stopped going. The Thursday class is so much better in the main hall, however there is a lot of necessary lunch prep going on and it’s not conducive to a Zen setting. Maybe in the future the center will be open more hours so yoga classes could be held outside the busiest hours. It’s such a wonderful activity for senior citizens. Just a couple of thoughts. Again, thanks for asking. Maryanne C. 7-29-2025

I participate mostly in playing cards and bingo at the Senior Center and have gone on a few trips. I am very grateful for all the wonderful activities offered there even though I am unable to attend many of them. I appreciate the wonderful card playing members who work hard to ensure the card playing groups do not become cliques, and that everyone is welcome equally. Thanks, Sharon M. 7-30-2025
